Each year, tens of thousands of Texas A&M students give back to residents of Bryan and College Station by participating in service projects through The Big Event. The 2nd Annual Spirit of Texas Festival, presented by H-E-B Creamy Creations, will offer a “Thanks for Giving Back Party” on Saturday March 24 at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater in College Station.
When students finish their Big Event duties, they can use their student ID to check in at the festival where they will receive a token worth $5 for food and drink — and the chance to be a part of history! Big Event students have the opportunity to attempt to build and eat the world’s longest ice cream sundae, made with H-E-B Creamy Creations ice cream and toppings. The current record set in 2016 stands at 3,627 ft. 8.8 inches, according to the Guinness World Record.
“Students who serve our community through The Big Event love Texas as much as we do! So, we want to say thank you,” said Cynthia Caronna, the festival’s executive director. “They will have the opportunity to explore some of the best that the Lone Star State has to offer, all in one place. There is something for everyone — the foodie, the shopper, the music lover!”
The festival, which runs from March 23-25, is supporting four nonprofits whose work affect the lives of youth: the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley; Von’s Vision (founded by Texas A&M football legend Von Miller); K9s4KIDS; and Mobility Worldwide.
