The City of College Station’s metered parking lot in Northgate will be closed four days for maintenance work starting late Sunday night. The lot will open on Thursday, Aug. 2.
Ample parking remains in the Northgate Parking Garage on several streets east of the parking lot. Free parking will be available through the garage’s College Main entrance from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. until the lot reopens.
Crews will apply a seal coat, striping and painted numbers and will replace several damaged curb stops. The work will also create a designated area for pick-up and drop-off of ride-booking customers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
“Our goal is for the new location to eliminate the unloading and loading of passengers in the middle of the street or prohibited areas,” Community Services District Supervisor Eric Chapman said. “It will create a much safer situation for bicyclists, pedestrians, and motorists, and will also prevent a logjam of vehicles in the fire lane near the south end of the lot.”
